Spiker Engineering’s ULTIMATE Lift Hood Strut system for 3rd Gen 4Runner (1996 to 2002) lets you open the hood with just one hand. Eliminates the prop rod and makes your engine compartment free and clear of obstacles. Our unique system allows you to set the hood opening height anywhere between stock and up to 8 inches higher, for unparalleled lighting and access to your projects. Ideal for situations where ditch lights or other items may limit the raised hood height. Our custom designed gas springs use larger diameter tubes and pistons for robust and smooth operation. Spring rate and end-of-travel damping are optimized to lift the hood gently to its fully open position, and allow easy closing without slamming. The ULTIMATE Lift system comes complete with all items needed for installation, including two gloss black gas springs, black powder coated mounting brackets, and heavy duty multigrip rivets (including an extra). Even a drill bit stopper is included, to make drilling safer. Installation can usually be completed in under 30 minutes. A full color detailed installation manual is included, along with links to installation how-to videos. A standard mechanics tool set and a rivet gun are required.
